One of the things I love about running is that you can have a clear cut goal and a make a very specific plan to attain this goal.
Someone might say that all sports are like this. A baseball player makes a goal of hitting x amount of home runs. A basketball
player has a goal of scoring x amount of points per game. But these goals are dependant on other people and factors. The
baseball player receives a lot of walks and doesn't get the opportunity to attain his goal. The basketball player is on a team
where he is called on to pass the ball more and is not needed to score a lot of points. What plan do they have to attain their
goals? An athlete can lift weights and take lots of batting or shooting practice and still not improve that much in hitting home
    runs or making baskets.

Running is different. The goal is to run a certain time at a set distance. No one has to pitch or pass you a ball to attain your
goal. The goal is not arbitrary. It is solid, Set in stone. Run a certain distance in a certain time. The goal is not dependant on
other people, just you. The plan you make to attain your goal is also very specific and even scientific. You run so many miles a
week. You run an interval workout at the track every week at a certain distance and pace. You build you mileage up slowly
over the course of weeks and months. You do a hill workout every week etc. If you do these things you WILL get better. You
can take batting practice and shoot baskets until you are blue in the face but if you don't have the hand to eye coordination or
other God given talents you won't really improve that much. Not with running. If you train hard you will improve.

This race has a goal. A very specific tangible goal. We want to purchase a wheelchair assessable minivan for a couple who
have done a lot for the running community in Michigan. A couple who used to travel to road races every week just to help out
and be a part of it, and now can't. There is a plan in place. Put on a well run race that everyone can do. Have a 10k for
runners looking for the little longer race and a 5k run/walk for runners and walkers that want to do a shorter race. Make the
course accurate and scenic. Have cool microfiber t-shirts. I hope you can help us attain this goal. Chuck Block

THE GOAL!
